I figured my first real post should be on the first dnd character I made that I actually got to use (sorry Leif, but you were a LMoP starter set character :P). Anyway, Krulx Deathcap was a goblin monk and circle of spores druid. I ran him for my local libraries' dnd game, in which we were running The Dragon of IceSpire Peak. Krulx's backstory is that he was a thief once, and he was sold out to the guards of Baldur's Gate (at least I think it was Baldur's Gate. For all I remember it could've been Sigil!) by his crime-partner (who was unnamed and unimportant). The guards shot Krulx dead (with crossbows) in the forest. Luckily, Krulx died on a patch of magic mushrooms, which brought him back to life. Hiding out in Dragonfall, Krulx joined the guards there and served up until the end of Dragonfall, when the wicked Cryovain destroyed the town in it's entirety. Krulx and his adventuring party made their way down to Phandalin, where a group before them called The Expendables (from a campaign run before I joined) had ventured into The Lost Mine of Phandelver and have not been seen since. Fearing the wrath of Cryovain, the party sought out one who could hopefully help tip the scales in the destined battle against the white dragon. When the party arrived at Venomfang's Lair, they were met with a group of cultists serving under Venomfang (who is a green dragon) that were convinced that they must first become druids in order to one day become dragons. Along with the druids, there were Orcs fleeing from Cryovain, and Kobold Legionaires serving under Cryovain who had come to give Venomfang the chance to surrender. Seeing an opportunity, Krulx temporarily united the Orcs and Kobold Army to focus on killing Venomfang so they could steal from his horde. After killing Venomfang, the Kobolds tried to take all of the treasure, so the party and the Orcs defeated them and split the treasure 50/50 (except our rogue had already stolen a lot so it definitely wasn't 50/50). Afterwards, the party made their way to Gnomengard, where they stopped a group of mimics from terrorizing the Gnomes. It should also be noted the Gnomes found Krulx's mushrooms delicious. After solving the mimic problem, the party requested the Gnomes build an army of anti-air barrel crabs to bring down Cryovain in the final battle. Next, the party went to the Spellforge, finding the remains of The Expendables. I missed most of this "arc" so Krulx's involvement is minimal. When Krulx returned we were fighting a giant boar. No clue how we got there. Returning to Phandalin, a Kobold stood in the middle of the town, preaching the word of Venomfang. This Kobolld, we learned, was named Maximus and fought during the Battle of Venomfang. We thought we had killed him, but as it turned out he was given new life through the words of the Holy Dragon Venomfang (Maximus sees Venomfang as a God, if it isn't obvious). While he is preaching, Cryovain's Kobolds launch an attack, capturing us (Maximus included) and taking us to Cryovain's lair. On our way we manage to break free of the shackles and kill the Kobolds who have captured us and we walk to Cryovain's lair with Maximus pretending he still serves Cryovain. Once there, we devise a plan: half the team goes up to the roof to steal from Cryovain's horde, while everyone else (Krulx included) stay on the bridge leading to the fortress and ring a bell to draw Cryovain over. Maximus accompanied the party going inside, but ended up preaching to the new recruits the Word of Venomfang. Surprisingly, the recruits end up liking the Word of Venomfang and convert themselves to His Holiness (I too worship Holy Green Dragon Venomfang). When the party inside finally meets Cryovain, he bellows a mighty "Ice to meet you," before taking off to stop the bridge party from ringing the bell. Once he is in range, Krulx throws a grappling hook attached to a rope and pulls Cryovain into melee range, only to be eaten at the last minute. Cryovain falls to a mighty Fireball from the Sorceress in our party, causing both him and the goblin in his mouth to fall 50ft, killing Krulx. The party mourns their fallen companion (I thought it was hilarious though I had hoped something like that would happen) yet, in a strange turn of events, the magic of the mushrooms activates once again and Krulx rises again, shouting "IMMORTALITY!!" Afterwards, the party heads towards Neverwinter on a special mission, except for Krulx. Krulx ended up going to live in Gnomengard, feeding the Gnomes the mushrooms that grow on him, up until the Gnomes greedily hunt him in his sleep, eating him in their stew the next morning.
